Abstract

This project was part of the WIFO-led Framework Contract and provided one of the background studies for the European Competitiveness Report 2013. It was conducted in cooperation with wiiw and NIFU. The report revealed the patterns and growth contributions of structural change over the past two decades for the EU countries and selected other major economies. It took account of the fact that structural change can both be growth-enhancing as well as growth-reducing and considered the impact of policies and institutions.
