El capital social. ¿Qué es y por qué importa?

Abstract

El objetivo de este ensayo es presentar a modo de survey, una revisión de las principales definiciones del capital social, su multidimensionalidad, sus orígenes y sus efectos y el reto de su medición. Asimismo se presenta una breve revisión de los principales campos de investigación del capital social que han cobrado interés en los últimos años, y se abordan de manera diferenciada, las principales líneas de investigación del capital social en países avanzados y menos avanzados. Por último, se ofrecen algunas reflexiones en torno a la agenda pendiente de investigación en relación con el capital social. Con ello se busca destacar el capital social como otra forma adicional de capital, que puede contribuir eficazmente al desarrollo económico.
