Abstract

El Perú a inicios del siglo XXI, además de haber logrado los mejores resultados en reducción de pobreza e inflación, aparece como el país que lidera el crecimiento en América Latina, a tal punto que hoy se habla del “milagro peruano”. Sin embargo, el país sigue siendo profundamente desigual, según confirman las cifras de distribución del ingreso.¿Cuáles son las razones que explican ese alto grado de desigualdad? ¿Nuestra herencia colonial ha tenido un papel en esta materia? ¿Cuál ha sido la relación entre la política peruana y las diferencias en el ingreso desde mediados del siglo XX hasta la actualidad? ¿Cómo y por qué se han ido modificando estas desigualdades durante las últimas seis década en el Perú?.Este libro enfrenta de manera interdisciplinaria -desde la historia, la ciencia política y la economía- a estas y otras interrogantes cuyas respuestas no solo explican nuestra realidad sino que pueden, si se analizan correctamente, ayudar a definir un mejor rumbo para nuestro país.
