Abstract

En el libro se discute el concepto de desarrollo sostenible, con un enfoque particular en las relaciones existentes entre el sistema ambiental y económico. Se presentan las interacciones de la población con el medio ambiente y se desarrolla en extenso los fundamentos teóricos de la economía ambiental. Asimismo, se tratan los temas relacionados con el manejo óptimo de los recursos naturales, empezando por el uso de la tierra y del agua como recursos básicos, para luego explicar la economía de la pesca y la economía del manejo forestal, así como el uso y agotamiento de los recursos no renovables.
