Abstract

This Festschrift in honour of Dr Shyam B. L. Nigam also marks the tenth anniversary of JASPA, the Jobs and Skills Programme for Africa of the International Labour Organisation ,of which he was Chief until his retirement in 1984. It consists of 31 specially written studies by eminent specialist scholars bearing on the problems of employment and meeting basic human needs in Africa. This volume offers a significant contribution to the literature on the subject and will be useful and important to all concerned with African development and employment issues.
