Patrones recientes de comercio y especialización internacional

Abstract

La crisis económica actual se inscribe en el contexto de un profundo proceso de transformación de la economía mundial. Este proceso tiene su principal reflejo en la evolución registrada por el comercio internacional en las últimas décadas, cuyo análisis es el objeto de esta monografía. En ella se estudian los patrones recientes del comercio y su evolución en los últimos 25 años, poniéndolos en relación con el nivel de renta y el crecimiento de los países y regiones del mundo. Asimismo, se examinan los flujos bilaterales de comercio y la especialización internacional de los países a partir de información detallada sobre más de 3.000 productos. El estudio presta especial atención al sector exportador español y termina con un análisis de sus debilidades y fortalezas. En él se muestra que la orientación geográfica de las exportaciones españolas y el importante peso de producciones poco sofisticadas, con cierta tendencia a la deslocalización, suponen limitaciones y amenazas significativas. No obstante, la elevada diversificación del sector exterior español y el dinamismo competitivo mostrado en las últimas décadas ponen de manifiesto una sólida base productiva capaz de contribuir decisivamente a la regeneración del patrón de desarrollo económico español. Esta obra despertará el interés de investigadores, economistas y público en general interesados en la economía internacional y el desarrollo económico, pues ofrece información y análisis que resultan de enorme utilidad para entender las claves actuales de la economía mundial y los retos que afronta la economía española.
