Abstract

El presente volumen amplía los resultados presentados en 'La localización de la población española sobre el territorio. Un siglo de cambios. Un estudio basado en series homogéneas (1900-2001)', publicado en 2006 por la Fundación BBVA. La ampliación se realiza en una doble dirección. En primer lugar, la aportación más relevante del libro -y del CD que lo acompaña- consiste en el incremento de los datos que ofrecía el trabajo anterior para algunas de las características definitorias de la población. Estas características son agrupadas en cuatro apartados: demográficas (edad y sexo), niveles de cualificación, movilidad geográfica y relación con la actividad económica. En segundo lugar, haciendo uso de los datos del padrón, se han extendido al año 2005 las informaciones presentadas en la citada monografía anterior, lo que permite valorar de esta forma el impacto de los fuertes movimientos migratorios en nuestra historia más reciente. Con esta nueva base de datos se ofrecen materiales de trabajo y análisis a la sociedad y a los estudiosos, lo que contribuirá a mejorar nuestra comprensión de los aspectos fundamentales de la localización de la actividad sobre el territorio.
