Abstract

Los artículos de prensa compilados en este volumen, tomados de la prensa liberal de finales del siglo XIX, muestran la futilidad de la guerra como mecanismo de acción política. En conjunto constituyen un temprano esfuerzo en el país por crear una cultura política basada en la tolerancia, la protección de las libertades civiles, la salvaguardia de la democracia y la afirmación del Estado de derecho, esto es, la defensa del imperio de la ley y la separación incondicional de los poderes legislativo, ejecutivo y judicial.
