La cuestión de la esclavitud en el México decimonónico:sus repercusiones en las etnias indígenas

Abstract

La esclavitud no representó un problema real cuando México transitó a la emancipación desde su anterior dependencia de España. El espíritu liberal de las cortes españolas y el ambiente europeo obraron en favor de la abolición de este sistema que riñe con la modernidad. Sin embargo, Ferrer Muñoz explora en el hecho de que la ausencia de esclavos no significó, por desgracia para el país, que las relaciones laborales dejaran de generar un peonaje vinculado con los patronos por dependencia económica, es decir, como una renovada versión de la esclavitud.
