Abstract

Providing an informative overview of workplace commitments, this Concise Introduction explores how this knowledge can influence management practices. Investigating individual, communal and unit-level workplace commitments, John P. Meyer considers commitment in the context of the changing nature of work. As well as reviewing theory and research pertaining to employees’ commitments in organizations, he expands on the implications for organizational effectiveness.
