Abstract

Segunda conferencia regional de seguimiento de la Cumbre Mundial sobre Desarrollo Social. Santiago de Chile, 15 al 17 de mayo de 2000 Resumen Las orientaciones emanadas de la Cumbre Mundial sobre Desarrollo Social coinciden, a grandes rasgos, con la orientación general de las acciones emprendidas por los gobiernos de la región en los ámbitos económico y social en los años noventa. El objetivo de este documento es presentar un balance de la situación de América Latina y el Caribe en cuanto a superación de la pobreza, generación de empleo productivo e integración social, en el contexto más amplio de las transformaciones económicas y de las reformas que se vienen introduciendo en la política social, y formular propuestas de acción para el cumplimiento de los compromisos adquiridos por los gobiernos de la región en Copenhague.
