Abstract

ApresentaçãoEste documento foi preparado pelo Centro Latino-Americano e Caribenho de Demografi a (CELADE); - Divisão de População da CEPAL, em cumprimento à resolução 616(XXXI); da CEPAL, de 2006, mediante a qual lhe foi solicitado que preparasse a documentação substantiva da Segunda Conferência Regional Intergovernamental sobre Envelhecimento (Brasília, Brasil, 4 a 6 de dezembro de 2007);. Seu objetivo é apresentar e analisar a informação disponível sobre o processo de envelhecimento demográfi co, a situação da população idosa e os avanços alcançados pelos países na aplicação da Estratégia regional de implementação para a América Latina e o Caribe do Plano de Ação Internacional de Madri sobre o Envelhecimento.
