Abstract

La preocupación de los Estados de nuestra región por erradicar la violencia contra las mujeres ha conducido al logro de diversos e importantes avances en los últimos 20 años, lo que impone la necesidad de analizar las distintas respuestas gubernamentales en virtud de la diversidad de estrategias empleadas. La Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL) responde al compromiso de analizar la violencia contra las mujeres, asumido por el Observatorio de Igualdad de Género de América Latina y el Caribe, mediante la elaboración del presente informe en acuerdo con los organismos y las instituciones que conforman el Observatorio: la Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS), la Entidad de las Naciones Unidas para la Igualdad de Género y el Empoderamiento de las Mujeres (ONU-Mujeres), el Fondo de Población de las Naciones Unidas (UNFPA), la Secretaría General Iberoamericana (SEGIB) y la Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID). El análisis se propone revisar la realidad regional, los avances de las recomendaciones internacionales, las políticas públicas promovidas a nivel nacional, sus limitaciones y desafíos..
