Abstract

El diagnóstico ofrecido por estos cuatro estudios incluye un resumen histórico desde la Colonia hasta nuestros dIas, así como la evolución de las legislaciones nacionales sobre los derechos colectivos de estos pueblos y la inclusión de la cuestión indIgena en las políticas públicas, desde un enfoque asistencialista a uno de desarrollo con identidad o etnodesarrollo. Asimismo, reseña la participación política de las organizaciones y movimientos indIgenas, que en estos países desempeñan un rol protagónico. Para finalizar con una serie de recomendaciones que propicien la inclusión democrática de los pueblos indígenas en cada uno de los países estudiados y en la región
