Abstract

Esta publicación presenta los principales resultados obtenidos luego de un proceso de un año de duración en el cual se elaboró una visión sobre el desarrollo social y económico de más largo plazo de nuestra región, en el marco de las actividades del cuadragésimo aniversario de CAF. La idea central es que los diversos grupos de formuladores de políticas, los académicos, los ejecutivos privados, la sociedad civil, entre otros, reflexionen sobre una serie de temas relacionados con el desarrollo desde una perspectiva latinoamericana. La premisa subyacente es que no existen impedimentos intrínsecos para que la región de América Latina emule el éxito de las economías del Este asiático en los últimos cincuenta años, y de China e India más recientemente, y que CAF debe desempeñar una función proactiva para ayudar a la región a alcanzar su potencial. Este estudio representa un importante primer paso en la elaboración de una visión de largo plazo para el desarrollo de la región, y constituye el trabajo preliminar para una revisión de la estrategia corporativa de CAF para el largo plazo.
