Innovación social con conectividad y salud: Telefonía celular 3G y atención materno-infantil en comunidades del Amazonas peruano

Abstract

El proyecto NAPO es una iniciativa de innovación social liderada por la fundación EHAS (Enlace Hispano Americano de Salud), en asociación con CAF, que aborda el desafío técnico y económico que supone acercar las telecomunicaciones a una zona particularmente aislada como la Amazonía peruana. Bajo el título “Innovación Social con Conectividad y Salud: Telefonía Celular 3G y Atención Materno- Infantil en comunidades del Amazonas”, el proyecto puso en marcha en 2016 servicios de telefonía móvil e internet en la cuenca del río Napo, afluente del Amazonas, para promover un desarrollo sostenible y aprovechar el potencial de las TIC para fortalecer los servicios públicos de salud. Asimismo, el uso de las TIC para la salud es lo que la OMS (Organización Mundial de la Salud) denomina eSalud1, y contempla su uso para mejorar la eficiencia en cualquier etapa del sistema sanitario, tanto en prevención, diagnóstico, tratamiento y seguimiento, como en gestión y costes.
