Abstract

Esta publicación busca que las autoridades locales y nacionales, comprendan el proceso de implementación de estos sistemas. De acuerdo con ello, los objetivos de esta guía son: Presentar una revisión de especificaciones, normas técnicas y de seguridad para el diseño, construcción y operación de STC; Presentar las diferentes tecnologías de cable disponibles, sus ventajas, capacidad y limitaciones; Evaluar los impactos positivos y negativos de su operación a nivel social y ambiental; Hacer recomendaciones para la integración urbana y la integración con el resto de la red de transporte público y los modos no motorizados; Hacer recomendaciones sobre aspectos institucionales para la operación y mantenimiento de los STC; Hacer recomendaciones específicas para los casos estudiados en América Latina e Identificar los proyectos de transporte por cable que se estén planificando en la región. Además, este estudio fue elaborado a partir de una recopilación de buenas prácticas de movilidad en el contexto regional e internacional.
