Abstract

Wirtschaftsethische Themen haben insbesondere in den 80er Jahren eine Renaissance in Deutschland erfahren, wobei aktuelle Themen überwogen. Die angebotenen "neuen" Lösungen entstanden jedoch keineswegs aus dem Nichts. Sie haben vielfach historische Vorläufer, die allerdings in Vergessenheit geraten sind. Winfried Kreis stellt die wichtigsten Wurzeln wirtschaftsethischen Denkens (19. Jahrhundert) in der deutschen Ökonomie heraus. Der Autor schlägt einen spannenden Bogen von der Romantik bis zur historischen Schule, der sich überraschend deutlich im Konzept der Sozialen Marktwirtschaft fortsetzt. Einen Schwerpunkt bildet darüber hinaus der Unternehmer als "zentrale Figur der Ökonomie" (A. H. Cole). Die zahlreichen Originalquellen sowie umfangreiche Sach- und Personenregister ermöglichen weiterführende Studien. "Nicht, daß die Streitfragen entschieden, sondern daß das Niveau der Auseinandersetzung über sie gehoben wird" (Albert O. Hirschman) formuliert Winfried Kreis seine Zielsetzung.
