Abstract

William Voegeli studierte Politologie an der Loyola University in Chicago, wo er auch promovierte. Anschließend war er für einige Jahre (1988 bis 2003) Programmleiter der amerikanischen John M. Olin Foundation. Danach wurde er Gastprofessor am Henry Salvatori Center des Claremont McKenna College in Claremont/Kalifornien, Herausgeber der Zeitschrift Claremont Review of Books und Senior Fellow am Claremont Institute. »Der amerikanische Wohlfahrtsstaat« (im Original »Never enough: America's Limitless Welfare State«) ist Voegelis erstes Hauptwerk. Das Buch erschien 2010. Vier Jahre später folgte Voegelis zweites Hauptwerk: »The Pity Party: A Mean-Spirited Diatribe Against Liberal Compassion«.
