Three Stages of Czech Labor Market Transition: Reallocation, Incentives and EU Standards

Abstract

Recent work on the following three aspects of labor market transition in the Czech Republic is presented: (i) reallocating workers and jobs from post-communist firms to newly started enterprises, (ii) providing incentives for human capital investment decisions, and (iii) coming to terms with anti-discrimination legislation motivated by the looming EU accession. Each chapter provides not only a detailed study of the Czech case, but also a direct comparison to results from other countries.
