Bulgaria’s Public Expenditures and Policies in European Context (Публичните разходи и политики на България в европейски контекст) - in Bulgarian

The monograph presents the results from the scientific research project "Bulgaria's Public Expenditures and Policies in European Context". The project is part of the scientific research program of the Economic Research Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The theoretical study reviews the models for the relationship between public spending, economic growth and welfare, as well as for assessing the efficiency of public programs. The structure and achieved results of public spending and policies of Bulgaria as an EU member state in a comparative analysis with member states of Central and Eastern Europe are studied. Own models and methodology have been applied to assess the relationship of public spending and selected socio-economic indicators of well-being, such as GDP per capita, expected years of education and life expectancy. The impact of public spending on Bulgaria's well-being indicators in a comparative analysis with the Czech Republic, Estonia, Croatia and Romania has been assessed. Recommendations for the necessary changes in public policies have been given in the context of the Europe 2030 strategy and the National Development Program "Bulgaria 2030".
