Neue Monatsberichte der Todesursachenstatistik – mit Fokus auf dem Nachweis von COVID-19-Sterbefallzahlen

Abstract

Während der Corona-Pandemie zeigte sich, dass genaue und zeitnahe Informationen über diejenigen Sterbefälle benötigt werden, die im Zusammenhang mit der Infektionskrankheit stehen. Bundesweite Angaben zu den Todesursachen auf Grundlage der Todesursachenstatistik liegen planmäßig Mitte August des Folgejahres vor. Deshalb wurden bislang die Daten der SARS-CoV-2-Meldestatistik des Robert Koch-Instituts für Vergleiche mit den allgemeinen Sterbefallzahlen herangezogen. Die Statistischen Ämter des Bundes und der Länder haben eine monatliche Todesursachenstatistik mit vorläufigen Daten entwickelt, die einen ersten Einblick in das Mortalitätsgeschehen geben soll. Der Beitrag stellt die Entwicklung dieser vorläufigen Monatsberichte vor und präsentiert erste ausgewählte Monatsergebnisse zu COVID-19 als Todesursache.
