Der Arbeitsmarkt für Humanmediziner und Ärzte in Deutschland: Zuwanderung verhindert Engpässe

Abstract

In Deutschland existieren aktuell weder Anzeichen für einen Arbeitsmarktengpass bei Ärzten noch Evidenz für einen oft beklagten Braindrain von Ärzten ins Ausland. Bis 2015 scheiden jährlich 6.600 Ärzte altersbedingt aus dem Erwerbsleben aus. Ihnen stehen aber knapp 10.000 Absolventen gegenüber. Zudem sind hierzulande 31.000 Ärzte tätig, die mit einem im Ausland erworbenen Abschluss zugewandert sind. Dagegen arbeiten nur bis zu 24.000 in Deutschland ausgebildete Ärzte im Ausland. Zuletzt kamen auf 1.000 Einwohner mehr als 3,8 praktizierende Ärzte, womit Deutschland bei der Ärztedichte in der internationalen Spitzengruppe liegt. Große Unterschiede existieren jedoch in der regionalen Verteilung. Bedingt durch die fortschreitende Alterung der Ärzteschaft steht Deutschland vor der Herausforderung eines kontinuierlich steigenden Ersatzbedarfs. So müssen nach dem Jahr 2025 jedes Jahr bereits 9.500 Ärzte ersetzt werden. Besonders die weiter erleichterte Zuwanderung im Ausland ausgebildeter Humanmediziner ermöglicht es jedoch, den steigenden Bedarf an Ärzten auch künftig zu decken.
