Abstract
This article analyzes how public policies, digital transformation, and user experience (UX) can enhance shared mobility in Ecuador within the framework of the Latin American context. Addressing current challenges such as traffic congestion, carbon emissions, and inequalities in access to transportation, it proposes the development of a national platform integrating public and shared transportation services, including carsharing, ridesharing, and scootersharing. This tool aims to optimize transportation management, improve operational efficiency, and promote interoperability between different mobility modalities. The study highlights the critical role of user experience in adopting these solutions, proposing accessible designs tailored to the needs of vulnerable groups. It also identifies key barriers, such as the digital divide and infrastructure limitations in rural areas, and suggests strategies to overcome them through economic incentives, pilot projects in intermediate cities, and education and awareness campaigns. The recommendations align with the objectives of the National Urban Mobility Sustainable Plan (PNMUS) 2023-2030, emphasizing the importance of public-private collaboration to fund and implement the proposed solutions. This paper concludes that integrating a national platform can transform Ecuador’s transportation system, advancing toward a more inclusive, safe, and sustainable model in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
