Abstract

This study analyzes the legal documentation granted to the five main foreign nationalities in Ecuador during the years 2022 and 2023, as well as their participation as shareholders, administrators or legal representatives in Ecuadorian companies. Quantitative data provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Superintendency of Companies are examined in order to identify trends and changes in legal immigration status and the distribution of foreign investment. The results show a decrease in the percentage of documents issued to Venezuelans, contrasting with a slight increase for Americans and Peruvians. Furthermore, there is a general increase in the number of foreign shareholders and managers, with significant changes in the distribution by nationality. This research provides valuable information on the dynamics of migration flows and business participation of foreigners in Ecuador.
