From this perspective, states must carry out measurements in their economic and social systems, to define the degree of equity to distribute resources. In this work, the purpose was to analyze equity in the distribution of wealth in the food processing and handicrafts sector, before and during the pandemic. The Gini coefficient model was applied, considering the variables of the number of establishments and income generated by them, from 2018 to 2021. The results showed that the distribution of wealth in food and handicraft manufacturing companies was better during the pre-pandemic period, with greater inequality in 2020, where the pandemic hit the Ecuadorian economy the hardest.
