Abstract
The effects of pretreating atmospheres (H2,O2andAr) on the activity forCOoxidation andPddispersion ofPd/Pr6O11catalyst were investigated. The result shows after thePd/Pr6O11catalyst was pretreated by hydrogen or oxygen at 550°C, its catalytic activity forCOoxidation can obviously increase, and the activity ofH2-pretreated catalyst is superior to that ofO2-pretreated catalyst, which is attributed to an increase ofPddispersion. The catalyst pretreated byArbehaves the worst catalytic activity forCOoxidation. The results ofCOpulse,COchemisorption andin situDRIFT testing indicate that the surface species (hydroxyl species or active oxygen species) generated during pretreating processes can preventPdparticles from immigrating and sintering, resulting in an increase of thePddispersion on the surface of support.
