Abstract

Measures of angle distribution and granulometry using a regular base length were conducted throughout the profile of two Alpine talus slopes of low cohesion materials. From one talus, a survey of rockfalls for a 10 year period and measures of movement of accumulated particles have completed the data collection. By statistical processing, evolution of the different parameters throughout the profile could be observed. The results converge on a biphase model combining a deposit‐transport slope in the proximal segment, and a pure accumulation slope in the distal segment. Transition is clearly pointed and occurs as a dynamic break. This model questions previous ones, particularly those based upon artificial slopes.
