CO 2 from one of the largest power generation companies to provide feedstock for algal biofuel

Abstract

Could the debate over carbon capture and storage (CCS) shift to focus on carbon capture and utilization (CCU)? With the announcement from Algae.Tec, an Australian advanced renewable oil firm, that it has signed a deal with the country's biggest energy generator to use its CO 2 emissions for the growth of algae for conversion to fuels and other products, this just might be the case. Roger Stroud , Executive Chairman of Algae.Tec, talks to Muriel Cozier about the project and explains how the company is working with businesses around the world to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide.
