Konjunktur und Wachstum in Österreich: Ein Rendezvous mit der Realität

Abstract

Trotz Rezession gehört Österreich immer noch zu den reichsten Ländern der Welt. Allerdings verliert es hinsichtlich des realen Pro-Kopf-Einkommens seit 2010 im Ländervergleich an Boden. Österreich verzeichnet seit fast 15 Jahren persistent höhere Inflationsraten als der Euro-Raum insgesamt und der Realwert des BIP pro Kopf wächst deutlich langsamer. Die lange wirksame Globalisierungsdividende fließt nicht mehr; demografische Faktoren werden immer wichtiger, Wettbewerbsfähigkeit geht verloren. Österreich muss daher dringend strukturelle Reformen angehen. So gilt es u. a., die Integration von Migrant:innen, die Erwerbsbeteiligung und das Bildungssystem zu verbessern.
