Die österreichische Land- und Forstwirtschaft im Kontext der Bioökonomie

Abstract

Die COVID-19-Krise beeinträchtigte die heimische Landwirtschaft 2020 kaum, wenn man von kurzfristigen Engpässen bei Saisonarbeitskräften absieht. Produktion und Einkommen konnten gegenüber 2019 leicht gesteigert werden. In der Forstwirtschaft waren die Rahmenbedingungen sehr ungünstig. Einerseits reduzierte das niedrige Preisniveau den Anreiz, Holz zu ernten. Andererseits entfiel ein Großteil der Erntemenge auf Schadholz, das auf Dürre und Borkenkäferbefall zurückzuführen war. Land- und Forstwirtschaft sind wichtige Elemente der Bioökonomie. Wie ein langfristiger Vergleich der Entwicklung der Wertschöpfung zeigt, nahm diese in den nachgelagerten Sektoren stärker zu als im Kernbereich, wodurch das Gewicht des Primärsektors sowohl in den Wertschöpfungsketten als auch in der Volkswirtschaft abnahm.
