Abstract

Gemäß der Interimsprognose der Europäischen Union beschleunigt sich das Wachstum in der EU insgesamt und in den Euro-Ländern. Dennoch liegt die Staatsschuldenquote in 7 Euro-Ländern über 100%. Der Präsident des Europäischen Rates schlägt ein Freihandelsabkommen nach dem Austritt des Vereinigten Königreiches aus dem Europäischen Binnenmarkt, der Zollunion und der Europäischen Gerichtsbarkeit vor. Der Europäische Rat stimmt einer vom Vereinigten Königreich geforderten Übergangsphase bis zum EU-Austritt Ende 2020 zu und legt Leitlinien fest. Während China, Indien und viele afrikanische Länder Freihandelsabkommen schließen, führen die USA Schutzzölle ein. Die Gefahr eines von den USA angestoßenen Handelskrieges droht. – Der österreichische Finanzminister Löger präsentiert dem Nationalrat das Doppelbudget 2018/19. Für 2019 ist erstmals seit 1954 ein Überschuss des Finanzierungssaldos budgetiert (500 Mio. €).
