Effekte der Zuwanderung im Rahmen des Grenzgängerabkommens auf die burgenländische Wirtschaft

Abstract

Neben der guten Wirtschaftsentwicklung waren die 1990er- und 2000er-Jahre im Burgenland durch einen deutlichen Anstieg der Beschäftigung ausländischer Arbeitskräfte geprägt. Dieser wurde u. a. durch das "Grenzgängerabkommen" mit Ungarn begünstigt. Im Rahmen dieses Abkommens kamen rund 2.400 ungarische Arbeitskräfte auf den burgenländischen Arbeitsmarkt. Dabei wurde eine Gruppe von Personen angezogen, die auf dem österreichischen Arbeitsmarkt erfolgreicher waren als andere ausländische Arbeitskräfte. Überdies trug die Zuwanderung im Rahmen des Grenzgängerabkommens zum Wachstum im Burgenland bei. Lohndruck dürfte nur in einzelnen Branchen entstanden sein.
