Konjunkturverschlechterung beschleunigt sich

Abstract

Der internationale Konjunktureinbruch hielt Ende 2008 an. Auch in Österreich schrumpfte die Wirtschaftsleistung im IV. Quartal 2008, wenn auch schwächer als in den USA und den größten Volkswirtschaften in der EU. Unter dem internationalen Nachfrageeinbruch leidet vor allem die exportgetragene Industrie in Österreich. Der aktuelle WIFO-Konjunkturtest deutet auf eine weitere Dämpfung der Industriekonjunktur im I. Quartal 2009 hin. Der Arbeitsmarkt reagierte im Februar mit einem deutlichen Anstieg der Arbeitslosigkeit und einem Rückgang der Beschäftigung.
