Abstract

Die nach den Wahlen neu konstituierte Europäische Kommission nimmt für die Periode 2014/2019 die Arbeit auf. Der Banken-Stresstest weist 25 der 130 geprüften europäischen Banken als problematisch aus. Eine der fünf geprüften österreichischen Banken erfüllt die Anforderungen nicht. Mit dem Beginn der Überwachung der 120 systemrelevanten Banken des Euro-Raumes durch die EZB ist die erste Säule der Bankenunion umgesetzt. Im Zuge der jährlichen Begutachtung der Budgetpläne für das kommende Haushaltsjahr sieht die Kommission für Belgien, Frankreich, Italien, Malta, Österreich und Spanien eine Gefahr der Verletzung des Stabilitätspaktes. Während die Europäische Zentralbank beginnt Asset Backed Securities anzukaufen, beendet die Notenbank der USA diese expansiv wirkenden Programme. Der wirtschaftspolitische Kurs Japans wird durch die Wiederwahl von Ministerpräsident Abe bestätigt, eine weitere Erhöhung der Konsumsteuer ist jedoch in Frage gestellt. In Griechenland werden im kommenden Jahr vorgezogene Neuwahlen stattfinden. – Aufgrund des starken Engagements der heimischen Finanzinstitute in Südost- und Osteuropa und der damit verbundenen Risiken rät die OeNB, die Kernkapitalquote zu erhöhen. Der Bericht der Untersuchungskommission zur Aufklärung der Vorkommnisse rund um die Hypo Group Alpe-Adria AG zeichnet die Fehlentwicklungen und Fehlleistungen auf allen Entscheidungsebenen auf. Grundlage der Pläne zu einer Steuerreform, die noch vor dem Sommer 2015 im Parlament beschlossen werden soll, ist der Bericht der Steuerreformkommission.
