La BCE face à la flambée des prix dans la zone euro

Abstract

L'article retrace les évolutions récentes de court terme de l'inflation et de la croissance du PIB dans la zone euro et dans ses pays membres. Il montre ensuite comment la BCE, face à ces évolutions, a dû changer sa stratégie par rapport à celle menée jusque-là pour éviter la déflation. Les perspectives de la BCE sur l'évolution de l'inflation et de la croissance à moyen terme de la zone euro traduisent l'espoir qu'ont ses responsables d'une baisse du taux d'inflation, de la stabilité de l'activité économique et d'une réduction du taux de chômage. Mais ces perspectives risquent de ne pas se réaliser notamment si la guerre en Ukraine se poursuit encore pendant de nombreux mois. Dans ce cas, les perspectives de la BCE devront être modifiées et un schéma alternatif d'évolution à moyen terme de l'inflation et de la croissance du PIB devra être envisagé.
