L’Euro : huit ans après

Abstract

Au cours de ses huit années d’existence, l’euro s’est imposé au sein de l’union monétaire en tant que monnaie supranationale et dans le système monétaire international en tant que rival du dollar et du yen. Dans la zone euro, il remplit les mêmes fonctions que les monnaies nationales qu’il remplace, mais, du fait de sa nature supranationale, il possède quelques caractéristiques spécifiques. Dans les relations entre l’Europe et le reste du monde, l’euro remplit les principales fonctions d’une monnaie internationale sans toutefois évincer ses rivaux.
