Abstract

The conventional method of payment management has now been replaced by innovations developed by companies collecting payments, especially the banks with the introduction of electronic payment (e-payment) as a medium of virtual counter. In this study a public survey was conducted in Malaysia to measure the level of acceptance by Malaysians in using e-payment method. An instrument of four constructs that contained 19 items with 5-point Likert scale were developed as a medium for assessing perceptions of consumer acceptance. An analysis constructs developed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on the theory of technology acceptance (TAM) to evaluate the integration of technology into the organization and analyzing the reasons for acceptance and rejection of technology. The study found that the level of acceptance of e-payment by Malaysians is high, but the acceptance of the people to replace the physical counter with a virtual counter is very minimal. The findings are important as a medium of making the country’s intention to become a high-income country whereby the method of electronic payment is a springboard towards a developed nation. This is possible through the financial stability and the soundness of financial management manual by the user.
