Abstract
Purpose – The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of sociodemographic factors, including education and health level and the number of non-productive workers, on labor productivity in Indonesia. Methods – The study's observations cover all provinces in Indonesia from the period of 2000 to 2022. The research method used is the Error Correction Model (ECM), which allows for a more in-depth analysis of short-term and long-term effects. Findings – The results indicate that in the short term, education and health levels positively affect labor productivity. Conversely, the presence of non-productive contributes to a decline in labor productivity. In the long term, education and health levels continue to positively impact labor productivity, while the presence of non-productive workers shows no significant effect on productivity. Implication – The government needs to enhance and equalize access to education and healthcare for the population to improve labor productivity and overall workforce welfare in Indonesia. Originality – This study provides an analysis of both short-term and long-term impacts of demographic factors on labor productivity, a topic that has been rarely explored in previous research.
