Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la evolución de las sociedades cooperativas y sociedades laborales en España para el periodo 1999-2007 y relacionar el contexto económico donde realizan su actividad estas entidades con su contribución al desarrollo económico y a la creación de empleo. Para ello se aplica la metodología del análisis de convergencia propuesto por Barro y Sala i Martí, que permite comparar el esfuerzo desarrollado por la Economía Social y la Economía española en la reducción de las desigualdades entre Comunidades Autónomas en el PIB y el empleo. La principal conclusión que se observa es la existencia de una estrecha relación entre la dinámica de las empresas de la Economía Social y aquellas Comunidades Autónomas con mayor nivel de empleo y mayor renta per cápita.
