Transferts de fonds des migrants et sécurité alimentaire dans les pays de l’Afrique de l’Ouest

Abstract

Cette étude vise à mieux comprendre les conditions de l’impact des transferts de fonds des migrants sur la sécurité alimentaire et la réduction de la pauvreté suite à un choc climatique. Nous utilisons pour ce faire un modèle spécifié en VAR (à vecteur autorégres-sif) sur des données de panel comprenant 7 pays de l’Union Economique et Monétaire Ouest Africaine (UEMOA) classés en 3 groupes selon leur pluviométrie, et collectées sur la période 1990-2010. Les résultats obtenus font ressortir un effet positif des transferts de fonds sur la réduction de la prévalence de la sous-alimentation et des écarts de pauvreté dans les pays moins pourvus en quantité de pluie, dont le secteur agricole est largement dépendant des cultures vivrières et les émigrés majoritairement d’origine rurale.
