Abstract

In this paper, a wideband 12-way high power radial power divider/combiner is designed based on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology. Broadband performance is achieved by using a stepped-core coaxial line at the central port and wideband SIW-to-grounded coplanar waveguide transitions at the radial ports. Due to the high power-handling capability of this structure, it is suitable for both power combining and power dividing applications. A prototype of the proposed combiner at X-band was designed, fabricated and tested. The measured insertion loss at output ports is approximately 10.7 ± 0.5 dB and the phase imbalance is ±1.8°. The isolation between the adjacent ports is better than 12.6 dB all over the X-band (40% bandwidth) and it can handle input power in the multi hundred-KW range (>266 KW), which is a huge advantage.
