Abstract

For reflectarray antenna applications, radiation field of the one-dimensional infinite array which is illuminated by a complex source beam (CSB) is analyzed in this paper. The CSB is an excellent basis function to expand any slowly varying radiation field of reflectarray’s feed. By analytically continuing the source which is used to illuminate reflectarray from real space to complex space, CSB is generated simply. By adopting Poisson transformation, the slowly convergent superposition of individual radiation field from reflectarray is transformed to terms of Floquet modes. Asymptotic evaluation technique is utilized to calculate the Floquet mode integral in closed form. The propagation characteristic of Floquet mode follows the geometric optic ray theory in complex space. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate this approach.
