Abstract

This research work deals with a innovative way to simplify the design of beam-forming networks (BFNs) for multi-beam steerable concentric ring arrays based on coherently radiating periodic structures (CORPS) technology. Mono- and multi-beam design configurations of CORPS-BFN for steerable concentric ring arrays are proposed and analyzed. The complex inputs of the feeding network for these configurations are optimized with the differential evolution algorithm. Simulation results reveal a significant simplification of the feeding network based on CORPS for concentric ring arrays reducing drastically the number of input ports to control each beam in both configurations analyzed.
