Abstract

Examining sustainable development by favouring a spatial approach leads one to modify the definition of the challenges relating to this issue. The present paper considers the two challenges of equity and efficacy, and it tries to specify the variables that influence each of them in a spatial approach. In order to do this, it draws on the existing literature, highlighting the differences in treatment depending on the approach, and also stressing the weaknesses. Overall, it is believed that the spatial dimension exacerbates the contradictions that arise from the implementation of sustainable development, in particular the contradictions that are likely to appear between a logic of sustainability and a logic of competitiveness. Die Untersuchung nachhaltiger Entwicklung durch Bevorzugung eines raumlichen Ansatzes fuhrt zur Modifikation der Definition der diesbezuglichen Herausforderungen. In diesem Aufsatz werden die beiden Herausforderungen der Billigkeit und Wirksamkeit in der Absicht berucksichtigt, die Veranderlichen, die sie beide beeinflussen, in einem raumlichen Ansatz zu bestimmen. Zu diesem Zwecke wird Bezug auf die vorhandene Literatur genommen, wobei die unterschiedlichen Ansatze der Behandlung herausgestellt, und auch die Schwachen betont werden. Es wird die Aufflassung vertreten, dass die raumliche Dimension im grossen und ganzen die Widerspruche verscharft, die sich aus der Durchfuhrung nachhaltiger Entwicklung ergeben, vorallem die Widerspruche, die wahrscheinlich zwischen einer Logik der Nachhaltigkeit und einer Logik der Wettbewerbsfahigkeit auftreten. En este ensayo consideramos los dos desafios de equidad y eficacia e intentamos especificar las variables que influyen en cada una de ellas segun un planteamiento espacial. Para ello nos basamos en la literatura actual, resaltando las diferencias en el tratamiento en funcion del enfoque y tambien nos centramos en las debilidades. En general, creemos que la dimension espacial agrava las contradicciones que surgen de aplicar el desarrollo sostenible, especialmente en las contradicciones que pueden aparecer entre una logica de sostenibilidad y una logica de competitividad.
