Abstract
C AMACHO -C ABISCOL J.-M. (2003) Job flows in Catalonia, Reg. Studies 37 , 491-503. This paper examines the magnitude and patterns of job creation, job destruction and job reallocation among Catalan industrial plants in 1996. Gross job creation and destruction rates are estimated to be 6Ž1% and 3Ž4%, respectively, which gives a gross job reallocation rate of 9Ž5%. Separate results by industry, plant-size, juridical form of the firm and wage classes are also reported. The results are compared with other national and international studies. Finally, the paper investigates the main drivers of plant-level heterogeneity and test empirically, in a multivariate context, some of the hypothesis highlighted by the theory. C AMACHO -C ABISCOL J.-M.
