Abstract

The paper examined the effects of strategic credit risk management on the performance of selected Nigeria Deposit Money Banks. The specific objectives examined the type of credit risk management policies adopted by Nigeria Deposit Money Banks, evaluated the impact of asset quality management on the performance of Nigeria Deposit Money Banks and to analyzed the extent to which credit risk management policies influenced the performance of Nigeria Deposit Money Banks. Ten banks were sampled constituting 52% of the total population of the deposit taking banks in Nigeria as of February, 2018. Secondary data were used for the study and this was collected from the annual reports of the selected banks. Descriptive statistics such as frequency tables, percentages, standard, and deviation minimum and maximum were used to describe the data while data envelopment analysis and panel data regression with random and fixed effect analysis were used for major research questions and hypothesis.The results showed that asset quality management had an overall mean of 215.9678; standard deviations were 1663, minimum and maximum were 0.3868 and l2.888.The constant and coefficient are statistically significant confirmed by Prob.
