Abstract

Zusammenfassung Debatten über Armut gehören zum Grundrauschen des wirtschaftspolitischen Diskurses. Die Frage, wie Armut definiert und gemessen wird, ist dabei nur selten zu vernehmen. Vor allem die Abgrenzung relativer Armut, die den Armutsbegriff innerhalb der EU maßgeblich prägt, ist aus Sicht des Autors willkürlich und wissenschaftlich nicht fundiert. Daher fordert der Autor eine Neujustierung bei der wissenschaftlichen Auseinandersetzung mit Armut und wirbt für die Erkenntnis, dass es keine überzeugende und verbindliche Definition von Armut geben kann.
