Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die langfristige Entwicklung von Marktmacht und Konzentration der Unternehmen stößt international auf große Aufmerksamkeit. Grund hierfür sind aktuelle empirische Forschungsarbeiten, die insbesondere für die USA, aber auch für andere Länder, eine sektorübergreifende Zunahme von Marktmacht beobachten und hierin eine Ursache für makroökonomische Entwicklungen sehen. Die Monopolkommission kommt in ihrem aktuellen Hauptgutachten zu dem Ergebnis, dass sich zwar die Umsatzkonzentration in Deutschland zuletzt relativ konstant entwickelt hat, dass jedoch die Preisaufschläge von Unternehmen nach der Wirtschafts- und Finanzkrise deutlich angestiegen sind. Zudem stellen indirekte Unternehmensverflechtungen über institutionelle Investoren ein potenzielles Wettbewerbsproblem dar.
