Abstract

Zusammenfassung In jeder Gesellschaft müssen Entscheidungen getroffen werden, die zwischen begrenzten Ressourcen auf der einen Seite und unbegrenzten Bedürfnissen auf der anderen abwägen. Für die Gesundheitswirtschaft gilt das in besonderem Maße. Dabei wird die demografische Entwicklung diesen Konflikt verschärfen. Die Innovationskraft der Gesundheitswirtschaft ist zugleich Ziel und Ursache eines zunehmenden Ressourceneinsatzes und damit steigender Gesundheitsausgaben. Die Autoren sehen Regeln für eine Rationierung als notwendig an, um eine gerechte und angemessene Verteilung der Ressourcen vornehmen zu können.
